Lots of sandflies around here and the road crosses through paddocks of cows so you may find you have to wait for cows to move. But there are amazing views especially on a nice clear night, sunsets are amazing. Perfect place to skim rocks you can spend hours doing it as a lot of the rocks/ pebbles are flat. Heaps of space so it doesn’t get too crowded and there are flushable toilets. Kitchen sinks are available too. It is well looked after and maintained. Felt very safe parking up.

The day we went, there was lot of campers. You can aee MT. Ithmus Peak. The Lake Hawera was beautiful. The only thing is that the road from the main road is gravel. Good facilities but no showers. Sandflies not that much but perhaps it depends on the season. Safe for campers.

The camp ground looked nice, although we weren't staying. Not much sun during winter months. Lovely walk along Lake Hawea.

Lovely place to camp. Even they have efpos card payment and also the flush toilet. How fancy!! And I reckon three days camping would be perfect because they have another track just next to it call sawyer burn track it’s about one hour out climb and you will of the bush and you will see the stunning view.

Hi.. my partner and i spent three nights here over the xmas period.. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Camp's Doc Ranger was very lovely and she shared with us a little about the native birds in the area. Waking up to the morning chorus of the birds was beautiful. The toilets were very clean and yes flushed yaaay.. the communal area was great.. running water for dishes.. cooking benches.. eating area very good. The views across the lake to the mountains breathtaking.. overall a great place for everyone to enjoy we will visit again one day soon

Stunning location at the top of Lake Hawea. Quiet in winter but I'm sure it would be busy in Summer. Flushing toilets onsite!
