The Huntly Cemetery is a mix of old and new. The old cemetery, which used to go by the name of Kimihia Cemetery, is a wooded area, with many magnolia trees, and a central path leading through This part contains graves of those who died in the tragic Huntly mining disaster. A concerted effort by Lions was made to identify the resting places of these men, and you will find they have special markers on them, and there is information on the disaster to be found there too. The newer section of the cemetery, a lawn cemetery, has areas for ash burials, general interments and and an area for Servicemen and women. There is a parking area at both ends of the cemetery, and water available on tap.
