Oh my goodness! I would’ve stayed in Kaikoura another night JUST for the food here. I was in heaven! Delectable! And beautifully plated! Thank you! We will absolutely be back :)

Don’t charge me 66 for 2 beers and 2 whitebait fritters and expect a glowing review, this is my mind should be more whitebait than fritter, otherwise your breaking advertising standards... this was an under seasoned egg omelette with minimal whitebait, hang you head in shame for ripping customers off. Then moving us off a table because you reserved it without letting us know she we sat down...
Absolutely delicious fresh fish cakes... great service, nice outdoor area for the dog. Going to return on the way home! Not many options open for lunch in Kaikoura so very pleased we ended up with this wee gem.
Decent place but v expensive food. 88 for cray fish (600gm) And wasn’t that much filling either. Certainly not full for one person. Fish cakes 3 pieces for 18, whole fish (market fish of the day) for 33, seafood chowder 20, scallops for 18. 3 pieces . Expensive food but tasty. Once a visit only. Covid hasn’t changed much for prices in Nz.
WOULDN'T GO THERE! VERY INCONSIDERATE MANAGER! Before my husband bought the beer he asked him that can we (we had a 2 year old child with us) go in and have our food in here! He said yes you can! He called us in! Manager said you can't sit here and eat in the bar (it was nice and warm in there for little one)! He made us to go and sit outside in the cold at 0830PM. Not a very great example of customer service mate! I understand the policy of your restaurant/bar or wtever the place it is! But sometimes you gotta make an exception when it comes to little ones! NOT REALLY RECOMMEND TO GO THERE!
Excellent food. Great staff. Great service. The crayfish was amazing. The mussels too. Infact everything we ordered was super. A must do. Please make a reservation as they get real busy.
This is such a wonderful eatery! We were searching for crayfish and this was the only restaurant in the area that had crayfish available. The crayfish was very tasty and fresh, and came with chips and salad. There were great vegetarian options available also, and nice drinks. The pub is cozy with a warm fireplace and lovely atmosphere. The staff were very friendly. It was a lovely place to stop.
The BEST fish n chips I have had for a long, long time. Unlike some other bars in kaikoura they are not just about exploiting the tourist trade. Live music, great selection of drinks at a more than reasonable price and did I mention the fish n chips.
