It's a standard backpacker but if you compare to others in NZ it's lacking a better quality to its services. It's not very cleaned. Kitchen needs improvement. Fridges, toaster and microwave is old and not working well. Room in the back are noisy as there's a wood workshop by the place. With some improvement this place can be very good.

We really loved this little place. Great sized room. Slightly sparse could off used a table or at least some bedside stands. Otherwise everything else was great. Kitchen very clean & well stocked with utensils. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Best price and have basics one need in a room. Friendly staff. All rooms have a private on suite, which is cool. Shared kitchen is kept clean and has all the basics too. Will stay there again.

Love it here, clean and close to town and takeaway places. We always stay here. Not too far (,2 hours ) from the ferry so, convenient after an afternoon crossing.
Our room was very small, but it’s a great base for a stopover or short stay. Bed was comfy enough, and the private bathroom was clean. Room was a little hard to find up some stairs at night.
Good things: Friendly staff, affordable price, clean kitchen area and utensils are in the kitchen. Bad things: too small room, smelly towels, not enough parking space and locked toilet papers I will not take your toilet papers! It was so unconvince.
Really nice man on reception and lodge is great and clean. Nice rooms at a low price, even had a sea view from our room.
