We live in an apartment in the city, and rarely get any bugs. When we do, they dominate through a lack of predators. Aphids invaded our lemon and lime trees. Using the internet and the organic tools available I tried to remove the aphids through other means. It didn't work. Spray, soapy water, finger crushing, and screams all left aphids returning with a vengeance. I then heard about Bioforce and their mercenary army of bugs. After watching some David Attenboroughesque youtube videos on the website, I thought it would be fun to try. If anything bragging rights of my mercenary bug army that had been ordered online ran through my head. I ordered a platoon of Dusky ladybirds asap. The Bioforce team were informative and let me know the bugs might not stay, since it was an open balcony. I made my purchase and they were deployed to my home via courier. Due to a postal error they sent my ladybugs to Nelson rather than Auckland, so when the round trip was done, the little guys were pretty starved. Bioforce were great and kept in touch the whole time and when they learnt my shipment wasn't too healthy, they sent me a second lot for free. The little army spent a few days eating all my aphids and then flew off. Since then I havent had any aphids return. I was hopeful of some of the ladybugs staying, and there were some who were hanging around, in the end the lack of food meant my balcony was left completely bug free.
