Room 3, Lovely and clean, spacious with nice shower...unfortunately the actual toilet was jammed up beside the bath room door , ok if you dont shut door or slim ...the bed had nice linen and pillows however was rather hard and uncomfortable..a nice topper would possibly make bed more comfortable..
While passing through Kawerau we needed to stay the night and found the Tarawera River Lodge Motel. While the reception was closed one phone call was all we needed to get a room for the night. While the motel is an older motel, it was comfortable and affordable. We would happily return to this motel.
It was cosy n warm when we arrived , very quiet .we asked for a double bed n they swapped it with no fuss , beds n linen were clean with lots of extra towels. Complimentary chocolates n pens were given as well. Very lovely. N. Mana.

Awesome motel Didn't stay here came for a service assessment for a course and the owner had great ambition and attitude for the business. Would recommend the rooms they are diverse in type, offers spacious rooms and smaller rooms. The location is within close proximity to nature walks and township but far away from robust noises. Highly recommend.
I like its location, it is in a very quiet place and surrounded by green trees. In bonus you are just next to River Tarawera. Great stay for nature lover
Room 8 was great. Approx. 30m2 of space including a kitchenette & dining table, main room with big screen tv, queen or king sized bed & single bed, & a good sized bathroom. Very clean & quiet. Bed was good quality, firm but really comfortable. Nice touches of welcome chocolates & room pre-warmed, & owner was friendly & helpful. She promptly bought everyone candles when we had an area wide power outage. I had a great stay, would happily stay here again, & would recommend this place if staying in Kawerau.
