I had a great experience discovering the West and East sides of the Main Divide with Alpine Recreation. My guides Axel and Anna were highly professional and available to provide suggestions and tips at any time. The logistic was great: transportation, food, gear when needed were organized perfectly and their knowledge of the area allowed them to have plenty of alternatives in case of the weather or snow pack required to change plans. I definitely recommend Alpine Recreation to discover the amazing beauty of the NZ Alps.

Completed the Ball pass crossing. We were well looked after by our guides Tim, Petrouchka, and Adam. A fantastic rewarding trip.

I completely a guided ascent of Mount Cook in December 2020, booked through Alpine Rec. Axel was very good to deal with and the guide (Dean Staples) was excellent. It was all well-organised, I learnt a lot and got to the summit and back down safely. I'd never done a guided climb before so I don't have much to compare with but I'd recommend them.

Caroline Hut Winter Hiking Skills Course, in July 2020: A challenging, rewarding, thoroughly enabling, food-filled, skill-gaining and beautiful trip. We were so satisfied with ourselves at the end of the day. We did this trip to learn skills that would allow us to go on a wider variety of treks and feel safe about it! We got that, with the opportunity to lead the day treks through the snow, learning how to scout the land with instant feedback. It was a great way to learn. We had not expected the trip to be so soul-nourishing also. Good exercise, with the most beautiful views. I’ve never been anywhere so silent and so still. Our wonderful guide, Jane, was phenomenal. She was a force to be reckoned with; incredibly skilled, and amazing teacher mixed with terrific kindness, encouragement and cooking skills! Such a joy! She asked us what we wanted to learn, and then catered to that. The company were so accomodating, taking into consideration our lack of experience and lack of a car!

I just completed the Symphony on Skis tour from Fox Glacier on the West Coast to the Godley River on the east via the Graham Saddle, Tasman, Murchison and Aida Glaciers. It was an epic trip with very interesting terrain. The guides Axel and Anna ran an exceptional tour navigating weather, snow conditions and tricky terrain. Very processional operation and I would highly recommend Alpine Recreation. This was my second tip and no doubt i will need to come back again for more punishment.

My husband and I had a blast on our 2 day trek to the Caroline Hut. Amazing views at the top. Gideon was an awesome guide - so fun and personable. He had a great amount of knowledge and we enjoyed learning from him. Would definitely recommend and if you can get Gideon as your guide, do it!

I just completed the 4 day introductory mountaineering course with Alpine Rec. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me. I have never done any mountaineering before or done a guided hike but the whole experience was very satisfying and rewarding. We learnt A LOT and got to Kaitiaki Peak and down safely :D Thanks to awesome knowledgeable guide Bia and Axel for great organisation of the trip! Highly recommend!!

I had a lovely experience with Alpine Recreation. They were a little more expensive than some of the other courses but it was longer and more detailed. As we had to hike out to the hut it meant I got lots of experience from the course, and Jane our guide was great to work with
