The best smoothies in New Zealand, and daylight second quite frankly, with great bagels adjusted daily depending on availability of seasonal ingredients and a quite outstanding Reuben. The husband and wife staff have created a beautiful garden environment with rooms highlighting the best views in town. Everything done right and very affordable.

We stayed in the Kauri Arch Suite and loved it. We spent time lounging on the verandah, reading and enjoying the beautiful views, flowers and birds, visiting Nugget Point and surrounding area, and decompressing after a bout of bad weather forced us to abandon our hiking plans on the Milford and Routeburn Tracks. Nick, our innkeeper, is friendly and helpful. The suite is spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well appointed. There is a separate eating area as well with plates, cutlery, fridge, toaster, and microwave. This is very good value for the money. Lawrence is a cute little town. Book here you won’t regret it.

The room was clean, tidy & warm. Had a great night's sleep. Views were beautiful & reception from owners exceptional! Can't recommend enough! Coffee was best I've had in a long long time - made by owner including roasting of beans.

Tonix has two tastefully decorated suites in a beautifully renovated, early 20th century, gracious Lawrence home. We stayed three nights in one of these, particularly enjoying the expansive view over the hills of historic Lawrence and, from the suite’s private veranda, the comings and goings of birds and bees in Tonix’ English garden. Tonix affords guests complete privacy within a few minutes’ walk to town. The hosts, Nick and Leanne, offer guests as good a breakfast as can be had anywhere, including coffee freshly roasted on the premises. Lawrence is a fascinating historic town that played a major role in New Zealand’s gold rush. Today it is in a beautiful pastoral location, an easy stop between east and west coasts, and at the current terminus (but soon an interim stopping point) on the Clutha gold trail. The community showcases its historic roots well. We spent a day riding from Roxburgh to Lawrence (after engaging a transfer to the start of our ride), and a second day exploring the gold fields at Gabriel’s Gully and the fascinating museum in town that chronicles Lawrence’s central role in the New Zealand gold rush.

Charming place with nice big bedroom and enormous bed and windows overlooking a lovely garden where tuis gather pollen from the flax.
