Arete Leadership Village is nestled in the base of the Tararua Ranges; the village co-exists on the Makahika OPC, www.makahika.co.nz property; we are an easy commute from either Wellington or Palmerston North; or a 30-minute helicopter ride. This executive Village is a space for your team to create, to design, plan and strategize - experiencing no interruptions, in the elegant, simple, luxury of our 8-carbon neutral whare (twin share or single occupancy). The extraordinarily beautiful wharenui provides the communal space for facilitation & dining. This unique setting offers the very best of the indoor-outdoor design, allowing the native birds to fly within metres of your team; evenings and early morning, our resident 18-point stag, often ‘roams’ his way through 'his'​ village. Meandering pathways connect the Village spaces allowing you to savour nature at her very best; providing both private moments and shared spaces for smaller gatherings. Sally Duxfield designed Arete with a vision to combine a #carbonneutral village with some of New Zealand's iconic and stunning scenery; clients are inspired to pursue personal and corporate excellence, whilst enjoying environmentally conscious accommodation and exquisite dining experiences. Resembling a south pacific sub-tropical with a slice of New Zealand paradise, Arete is the ‘experience’ for your executive team to explore business challenges, opportunities and pursue dreams. Or perhaps you wish to treat your international guests to a truly New Zealand experience without the back-country commute. Experiential programmes can be designed to support the individual client. Whether it’s a zip line after your strategy session, or wilderness survival with our ex-special force’s instructors, yoga at dawn in the forest, you can experience as much or as little of the outdoors as you desire.
