What a great place for music!! The owner is super friendly and a musician (and fan) through and through. We were especially impressed by the many old guitars but also by the atmosphere of the shop itself. If you have a heart for music, make sure to stop by!

This reveiw is solely for the vinyl records sold at Kings Sound Centre as I have never dealt with them for musical instruments. If you are looking for good value used vinyl this is NOT the place for you. If you are a collector, while there are some interesting items here the pricing & condition ratings are all over the place. The pricing is often above the highest price achieved on Discogs. And as mist sellers know even Discogs does not reflect the N Z market. Grading too is dissappointing. At least the owner does grade, however that grading is to say the least, optimistic. Expect a VG to be the equivalent of a VG or less from more experienced establishments. Those establishments would seldom use Mint or Mint-but it used a lot at Kings. Some LPs are warped so care needs to be taken. If inexperienced in vinyl purchasing I suggest shopping around (most long running stores have a reliable online service) before purchasing here. Also stock turnover us not good and I have seen very little new items arrive in several visits over the last few months. I had been hoping that prices would drop to a reasonable level but it seems to be getting worse The records have a little sticker attached describing the background of the artist taken directly from the net. As most purchasing used vinyl will know what they want this time could have been better spent by the owner researching price & condition. Could be a great place as the only vinyl shop in area but currently is just a rip off. Shop with care!
