I have been attending the weekly mens group for around 6 months, when I first started attending these support groups I had been bashing my head against the wall for two years trying to deal with family court and Oranga Tamariki to get access to my daughters but was getting nowhere. (whilst also dealing with numerous surgeries to remove cancerous tumors from my bladder)But through the support of " The Brothers " and the hard work of Te Paepae arahi staff namely Greg Hawkins who has been right there with me through hours of family group conferences, court appearances, and hospital visits. (Not to mention the countless emails and hours spent cutting through red tape on phone calls with social workers and lawyers) and Tim Shay who has also made himself available 24/7 and always knows how to lead me in the right direction to help myself. I am now having weekly visits with my daughter, and have managed to SIGNIFICANTLY reduce my alcohol consumption which is having a huge impact on my physical and mental health issues. Words can't describe how grateful I am for the aroha and mahi of Te Paepae arahi, and i sincerely believe without them I'd still be stuck trying to fight a system I didn't understand and would not have had the pleasure of running cuddles for the first time in 2 and a half years. MUCH LOVE to my Matuas Rohan Gear (Proud Dad and grateful client)
