Great trak and great spot for the first night. We set up our tent on the flats and went for two hour hike into the northern branch of the river. The spot is beautiful and the facilities of the hut are great. We don't like to sleep in the huts because of the heat and how crowded they are so we slept in the tent. If you prefer to sleep in a hut and you managed to start your day early enough, try to aim to the next hut, it will save you some climb on the next day.
A good sheltered spot to rest. Hut looks good but the main attraction for us was a place out of the rain to have lunch beside a wood burning stove!!

Routeburn can be done in jandals if you do want dirty feet. This hut is my personal favourite on the Routeburn and the recommended place to sleep just for the view, it's gorgeous!
The hut is equipped pretty well. Gas stove not really necessary as people bring their own stoves. The fire place is nice, even though a stone one, maybe in one corner of the building, would have been nicer than a metal one. The building is clean and neat. I wish I could write a review for the campsite as well, but this just the Hut I guess.
