You must visit this place at least once in your lifetime. It's gorgeous on a clear day but equally stunning when it's grey and moody. It's an easy walk up to the colony from the carpark end, no need for trekking boots. I visited at the end of Jan and again today (1 week later). In a week a lot of gannets have left but still plenty raising chicks. Ideal time to visit would be in the month of January. I've attached pictures taken on a clear day and grey day taken a week a part.

REALLY liked seeing the gannet colony! There are so many birds (including fledglings when we went in January) to see and watch, and the scenery is beautiful as well. We sat and just watched gannets come and go for a good hour. There’s beaches on both sides of the colony for swimming, surfing, or enjoying the sand. The smell of the gannet colony is a bit rank, but that’s part of the experience! Only a 5 minute walk from the car too. Very cool place to visit.

Access to this attraction is very easy for people who are reasonably fit. Steps, formed paths, outlooks & info boards make it a great way to spend an hour or so watching the birds & the waves.

Its incredible that you can view these beautiful birds up close and personal. Sitting on there nest high on the cliff tops they leave me speechless. Nature is amazing and worth protecting for the future generations to enjoy. Beautiful walk to view points.. can be a bit smelling with these little birds

Although most of the chicks had already flown, we were still in awe of the magnificent of the birds and area

A short walk from the carpark to stunning views of the coastline. The Gannet colony is amazing (both in sight and smell!), and they are literally right in front of you. Lots of super fluffy chicks at the moment, and the opportunity to see them being fed by parent birds returning from sea.

My first time to hear of this seabird called “Gannet” in English and saw it with my own eyes the first time today. Thousands of gannets inhabit and breed here. The magnificent and thrilling scene in front of me, the harmony between man and nature, I was amazed.

Superb place, gannets are with their babies, they generally fly towards south Australia during March and fly back to New Zealand after September for breeding season... These birds can fly at a speed of 145 kmph, in any kind of weather and non stop... These birds are great divers too....
