Beautiful & peaceful. We stopped for a quick rest & refresh. Didn't have enough time for the 5 minute walk to the busg pools but will be back. Staff were helpful & informative.

Morere Hot Spring is a great place to relax for a couple of hours, when you’re driving from Napier to Gisborne. It’s well located and inviting everyone for a driving break. Nikau Pools are reachable after a short walk through the forest, besides the river, beautiful view. There’re 3 pools with different temperatures. Changing room, shower and toilet. 22.03.21 at the moment the showers for men and women are out of order, you can just use the ones at the main pool. Highly recommended place!!!

Great place for the whole family, bring a picnic or have a BBQ. The bush walks are really great. We went in the morning and we had the pools In the bush to ourselves. Lovely friendly staff.

Lovely DOC site and the hot spring water makes for a very relaxing soak. Brave people can go in the cold pool (not me!) as well. There are private areas too, but we enjoyed the public ones. You can walk barefoot between the lower and upper pools and there are places to sit and eat lunch. Excellent value for money and a good way to break a long journey

A blast from the past. A bit different to when I last visited 30 more yrs ago. Lovely setting, lovely temperature

This is based on the entry to the bottom pools only and not the private pools. The heated pool is nice but would be too small on a busy day. The changing rooms seem decades old. The toddlers pool is flaking paint which isn’t ideal. Overall it was an average experience. (If people rate this 5 star they clearly haven’t visited Hanmer Springs). The walks are really good though and recommend the Nikau track.

Beautiful surroundings friendly and helpful staff thought plunge pools could've been a bit cleaner but bottom pools and change area were great!! Definitely worth a visit!! Reasonably priced too!
