I have been at Carlyle for a long time now, though it was very hard when I lost my dog, was a confusing time with what was wrong and the euthanasia wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t peaceful at all, I don’t think this was the vets fault though. They were very caring. Had tissues ready, candles, soft music, a sign for him. Always remember you, always try to go the extra mile for you and I think they are the best quality and value in Hawkes bay.

I was disappointed with my visit to Carlyle Vets for my dog. I will not be taking my dog back to this practice again. The staff were rude, vets did not provide enough information for the reason of my visit and I had to return for further treatment due to poor communication as my dog became sick. I went in and got a kennel cough vaccine and had been told 72 hours was enough time between vaccine and his stay; after two days at the kennel my dog has come home with kennel cough. I was not told that best practice is to have the cough vaccine 4 weeks prior to his stay and now he has to quarantine for a minimum of 6 weeks as he is contagious. I left feeling upset and would not have put my dog in a kennel if I had been told it would take 4 weeks for the vaccine to take effect. They told me the vaccine is effective for 12 months then told me in the same conversation that it is most effective in the first 6 months and that top ups are advised after the 6th month of the initial vaccine. I expected better service from a 4.5 star rated vet. (At the time of my visit kennel cough has been identified as being a big problem in the area/ publicized, so I would have expected better service from a vet - I will be talking to the kennel also).
