Newly opened last year, this is so much improved on the previously tired and worn buildings. Rather than try and upgrade the bold decision was taken to build new, and bulldoze the existing location. The result is a modern, stylish airport which is geared not just to serve the currently sadly very reduced due to Covid travellers, but geared up to allowed a really good entryway into Taranaki for national flyers now, but also with the potential to become an international Airport if/when the runway can be extended to accommodate long haul jets. Good facilities, a really spacious design, and a design which is heavily influenced by NZ history and culture, its represents a great example of local design and craftsmanship, a great space to arrive and depart from, and not a bad place to spend an hour or two just watching the world go by. Could do with a dedicated space for kids to play but immeasurably better than the old airport was..

Recently renovated NP airport to international standard interior & facilities. Comfortable, serene, clean, peaceful & tidy renovation. Over 100 seats scattered for passengers & visitors. Over 100 car parks with 20min free or 2/hr. Tatai is a New Maori NZ jade gift shop. Newly tarred driveway & runway for a smooth ride. A big cafe for guest with NZ aviators info displayed. Air condition premises.
Its a gorgeous little airport. Very spunky with its flash new cafe, seating and even a little souvenir shop. Its a nice relaxing space.
The new airport is well laid out and spacious. The parking lanes are close together so take care backing out. A good view of the airfield to watch both the commercial and little planes taking off an

I was very impressed with the new terminal. Very well designed. The loos were very flash. The terminal is small, but perfectly formed!

It's quiet and restful. Sunshine pouring pleasantly into the reception area. Delightful.
