Must confess to being a regular user of Rakiura Charters - why? Because the team are professional and friendly - last weekend it was the short hop across to Ulva and in a couple of weeks it will be another pelagic tour. I thoroughly recommend them. I booked online and the communication was superb - a friendly call to check the timing we wanted. If you are keen on bird photography these are the go-to people for pelagic tours :)

A fun way to hop the local islands and a nice ride over to Ulva Island from Oban. The boat was clean and full of information to peruse on your way across. Punctual service and flexible daily charter schedule. Their customer service phone team was also very friendly and accommodating. As the saying goes: “You’re on island time” — they had no issue changing their journey times to a slot that suited my party. All around a pleasant experience.
Great trip with Matt to Ulva Island. Comfortable boat, easy to board and disembark. Booking office centrally located in Oban township. Ulva Island was incredible. The birdsong was beautiful. Make sure you purchase the booklet that tells the story of the island and helps you identify the birds and trees. Very lucky to see a sea lion sun bathing on the beach. Would have liked to explore further into Patterson Inlet with Rakiura Water Taxis, but I didn't have enough time on the island. Will definitely be back.
We had Craig collect us from Freshwater Inlet and again the next day when going to Ulva Island. He is clearly a very experienced (& friendly) skipper who gave clear safety briefings, respected the social distancing during Covid and was always punctual. The phone staff were very helpful and friendly and they are accommodating with times to suit. I would definitely recommend Rakiura Charters and will use them again.
Loved our Paterson Inlet tour with Matt. He was hugely knowledgeable about the history of the island and its natural history too. Highly recommended! Thanks Matt!
I called last minute to book a trip to Ulva Island and staff were very helpful and friendly both on the phone and the boat.
Great communication with this company, we booked months in advance, tours left on time, (Wildlife and Ulva Island). Nice safe boats! The weather was dodgy and one trip was cancelled due to it, we received our refund automatically with no hassle. Well recommended.
Did a hunting charter with these guys. Great service. Would highly recommend them. Will be using them for our trips from now on.
