We went on the four day canoe safari and absolutely loved it! Amazing scenery, and great service. Aidan and Morgan really went the extra mile to make sure everyone was happy and comfortable. Food was just like the comforts of home! We were very well looked after, and felt safe on the journey. A great package and experience suitable for anyone.

Did the 3-day guided canoe trip down the Whanganui river with Phil and Simon as our guides. Even though all of us were first-time canoeists and a few of us were non-swimmers, they looked after us very well and were amazing at teaching us the skills we needed to keep ourselves safe. The journey was full of excitement with beautiful views throughout. Had a very good time chatting with Simon during the times I was in his guide boat as well! The meals were fantastic with cooked breakfasts and dinners each day. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to do the Whanganui Journey!

AMAZING!! First real outdoor experience so was a bit nervous about it. Phil and Simon were amazing at making us feel comfortable and well looked after on our 3-day trip. They made the whole trip fun and exciting for everyone! Highly recommended!!

I can't recommend this Canoe Safaris guided canoe trip enough. Initially I didn't realise that guided trips existed and I thought we just had to hire the canoes and do it all ourselves. Then someone told me about these guys and recommended them - WOW, this was soooooo much better than doing it by ourselves. They looked after everything for us: transport, canoes, containers for our stuff, food, tents, cooking equipment and all the knowledge that we needed to stay safe and have a lovely time. My 79 year old mum came along on the trip too and they looked after her wonderfully - she felt safe the entire time (which she definitely would not have done if I was taking her down the river doing this independently). The food was incredibly varied and delicious (they provided all breakfasts, lunches, dinners and even snacks along the way at times). They even provided wine/beer and cheese & crackers before dinner each evening - so nice! All we had to do was paddle, carry gear up to the camping ground sites, put up our tents (which were easy to put up and really nice) and do a few dishes. Our guides (Talyer and Aiden) went above-and-beyond what we expected of them and I can't say enough amazing things about them - they really made the trip so much more special. Thank you! We were very lucky with the weather (see some of the photos attached), though the river level was very low which did mean that we had a lot more paddling to do and the rocks were closer to us at times than they would normally be. We did the five day trip which was perfect - the three day version means you have a lot more paddling each day (even though you start further down the river) and as we had five days we got to enjoy paddling once we got the hang of it (rather than stopping just as we were starting to get more confident).

This was the best family trip ever! Three course meals, a wealth of knowledge from our awesome guides, and no devices, were just three reasons we would highly recommend this adventure. Phil and Simon were amazing guides and worked from the moment we were collected for our trip to the moment we left the Canoe Safari premises. I can't speak highly enough of Kirsty and Phil (owners) and the experience they offer to their clients. We did the 4-day trip, and have already told all our friends they must add it to their bucket list and go with this company! We had an amazing group of people with us, 19 in all, who were fun-loving and made the journey all the better. A personal thanks to the Canoe Safari team from the whole family (aged 13-51), you have provided us with some fantastic memories :)

We did a family 4 day guided canoe trip, it was absolutely amazing. Very professional, our guides Morgan and Aiden were very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was way above expectation and the memories we have made will be with us forever. Highly recommend.

We did the five day trip as family of 3 generations. Over all a great trip. Guides very good. Morgan was excellent amusing the children. Taylor made superb meals using limited doc shelters. She also did a very slick rescue of a capsized canoe. I much appreciated the care taken to give me a dairy free diet. Excellent food, the thick steaks on the last day were loved by those who like rare or very rare. I think the cooking plate was not hot enough. I really enjoyed the paddling. Improvements - At the take out we were told here is the last bathroom, none at base. Given I was getting cool after the 45 min bus ride back with all windows open ( there were 17 wet or damp people) I had no option but to strip in the middle of the car park to get into dry clothes. Having a change area would be great. After a cool rainy day and an involuntary swim I would have loved a hot drink rather than the plastic cup of cordial standing in the rain. Just put out an hot urn with some tea bags or cuppa soups etc. Given the high quality of the food for the rest of the trip this was a let down. I know my young granddaughter was quite chilled . The other area for improvement was for these Canadian guides to share the local history. I failed to see the peace poles, the mooring poles where craft used to go up to etc.I would love to have had more history. We did hear about the Road to Nowhere Settlement on the walk, and the River Queen location was pointed out. The story about the karaka berries was also great. Reading the books provided in the evening gave limited information, with mostly only time to look at the photos. Several friends after hearing us are thinking of doing a similar trip with their families.
