This is one of my favourite bike tracks in NZ! You get to bike along the old coach road that was the main road in the last century connecting Auckland and Wellington! Trail is perfect for all cyclists levels, has some really cool views and attractions along the way! Highly recommend to bike on the old viaduct and abandoned tunnel, I had adrenaline when being there)

What a stunning place. Absolutely Breathtaking. We have started from Horopito as it is easier to go down rather than going uphill all the time. Very tidy, nice scenary and the spirit of history all along the Trail. A lot of bridges and a tunnel! Also the Track is being maintained as we could see the equipment parked along the Trail. I would definitely come back again and again and would put this Trail as a 2nd pick after Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

Amazing mountain bike riding experience, make sure you get enough fluid and hire an electric bike if unsure as 15 KM distance could be quite tiring.

awesome track we walked in from the marshalls road side mildly uphill but beautiful scenery great little snippets of information and history along the way some of them are interactive to keep the kids occupied. il definitely be bringing the mountain bike with me next time its a ohakune must do!

The Old Coach Road is an absolute recommendation for anyone who is up for an adventurous ride, thought does not call themselves quite the professional. This track is real fun even though you might only consider yourself an amateur.
