Right, forget about the decor, it's beaut. Forget about the service, it's fantastic. What you should be concentrating on is the food, as it is absolutely incredible. Our large group hit town and as we'd booked ahead had seats as soon as we arrived. Our server not only was efficient at taking our orders and remembered where each meal should go. I ordered the steak and it was fantastic although I should have ordered a side salad. The big chips are amazing. Top job Powdered, and a big thanks to those genies in the kitchen, they probably don't get the praise the deserve.

The Powderkeg has to be, one of my top 10 Favourite Restaurants around New Zealand. Starting from the gorgeous location in Ohakune to the beautiful food on the plate, really amazed me. The work that has gone into the architecture of the building is outstanding and is just bewildering. The food is excellent and the staff top that! Really exuberant and Delicious! I'm delighted that I chose this Restaurant tonight! I will be back!
Powderkeg we had dine in before,We got excellent service and food. Food quality and customer service made as to go back. Last night we went in for dinning and got disappointed. We were group of 4 and waiting for the staff to come and take our orders. We had to call the staff to take our orders. We ask few things, the manager and other staff replied very rudely.Food we received didn't taste good at all. We saw other customers receiving good service from staff.. We are Indian customer we are paying full price as other's, we don't know why we we received poor service and food. Please Powderkeg managers and staff don't be racist when Indians come for dinning.
As usual delicious food, amazing steaks, no complaints at all across the board with all our mains, but I would really love to see more or different choices for dessert though. We have a nut allergy in our family and they all 3 choices contain nuts, yes I know we can leave them out .. a cheese platter would be amazing..a lemon cheese cake would also be fab... Just a none nut option and a none sweet for the people who don't like sweet desserts. Other than that feedback, love the place, staff are really good, service is so quick
Big tasty meals, served with a great selection of beers! Great staff and good parking outside. This place can be super busy in winter!!
Overall quality of food and service very acceptable. Most enjoyable meal. Worth a visit.
