Pilot Marten and me achieved a long flight over Mt. Cook on Feb.12, 2020. As i am a paragliding pilot who fly sailplane for the first time, pilot Marten demonstrated me great wave soaring, which is completely different from thermal soaring in paragliding. At beginning of that flight it was quite tricky. We flew close to the hill and was doing intense maneuvers to catch the lift. But Marten finally made it! We climbed into smooth wave, reached the altitude of 16,000ft, and flew over Mt. Cook! A great day! Unbelievable scenery! And a big thanks to Marten and Glide Omarama club! Although the price is high(NZ824 for 2.5h), it deserve! Don't compare with airplane or helicopter. Remember, this is a glider without engine. Soaring without engine is a great sport which requires courage, talent and technique, contrarily, airplane & Helicopter are just transportation. I recommend, if you are going to try some aviation sports in NZ, do gliding in Omarama!

One of the best place to experience glide. It was my first time and absolutely thrilled from the experience. Instructors are one the best skilled & very professional. I will definitely do it again.... Thanks to Phil & Sabrina for putting a smile on my face and heart
Fantastic experience! A 'must do' once in your lifetime at least! Very expensive for local retired 'kiwis' though. Gliding is sooo different from scenic plane flights though, yes you see the scenery..in fact more as there is no visual restrictions..but it's the feeling of quiet, calm & tranquility just gliding like a bird for half an hour..awesome

My pilot was fantastic and this was an experience I will not soon forget. The views were breathtaking and my pilots knowledge of the area made this so much more enjoyable! I will be back for the Mr Cook trip!
Such an AMAZING experience. Sabrina was extremely professional, explaining a lot of interesting stuff before and during our flight. Plus she gave me the chance to try flying the glider by myself. Absolutely an experience I will not forget! Thank you so much!!
