I've seen the sign many times but never traveled there until today, so glad I did. What an awesome piece of New Zealand's history I never ever knew about. The place is kept in great condition. There are several walking tracks including the "Yankee trail".

The setting of the war memorial is well thought through. Several pieces of history set out across a good stroll. There's a nice walk around a pond, which attracts various types of birds. The latest addition of a modern site information complex adds to the visit. A hidden gem on the kapiti coast
