We had a family visit to Mesopotamia early Jan 2021. What a fantastic place and Sue is a great host. She included the kids in the farm activities with the horses, calves chickens and dogs. She allowed us to shoot bunnies on the property if we wanted. Great swimming down the river. Lovely memories created. Thanks Sue from the Thompson, Roy and Arcus family

Wonderful weekend here once again. Such an amazing place to stay amongst the beautiful New Zealand scenery.

A stunning place to visit and plenty to see, however the accomodation "the Cooks House" does leave a lot to be desired, yes I was expecting an 1950s house single glazing, while rustic and charming in its own right it could do with some love and some deep cleaning to make this a really good experience. For those going for their first time it may be a suggestion to bring the following your self. Heating (there are two open fires there but it took to the end of day 2 to make the temperature bareable) it needs constant feeding to keep them going during the night as well (a log fire would make far mor sense and be more ecomomical to run it may actually keep that house warm) Clean tea towels, and maybe camp stretchers if you want some comfort. the beds we had were well past its best - the double beds have chronic roll together and if you attempt to sleep on one alone it swallows you up - the bunks were extremely firm but for some reason the mattrass (sponge??) had a deep pot hole in it that you sunk into so effectively sleeping on solid wood with no comfort what so ever. no one in our group dared to use the shower block, the only thing dividing you from everyones view is a shower curtain - no privacy as you need to walk through the shower/toilet block to get to some of the rooms.
