Love it here. Fantastic staff. Cafe & gallery next door. Super breastfeeding friendly, there's even a good armchair in a quiet corner.

Our family was on way to Picton by ferry and looked around Wellington with limited amount of time with a rent car. We covered a few essential touristic spots and wished to get some feel of how local people run their weekend in their community. But no idea on how to because it's Christmas Eve Sunday (12/24/2017). Actually such a timing of trip in a city like Wellington was good and bad because the streets were empty (Good! for driving) and bad (Most shops and restaurants closed!). We decided to pick and choose any satellite city and drove to Porirua Central Library because we found the area, when driving into Wellington via Route 1, interesting with active water activites in the lake ? or harbour surrounded by housings on the surrounding hills. We were luck to get to the library and emjoyes PATAK Art and Museum but could not look into library due to time constraints. We happened to chat with reception staff and asked them where we can best see how community people spend Sunday afternoon. And the staff gave us a map and introduced on spot to walk around Camborne Walkway. We located the spot (Marina View) easily and could park the car. We found a cafe nearby and got lunch boxes and enjoyed them at a bench looking down the harbour water and kids play in the water. It was a real relax and fin to be with local people walking, jogging, kidding and laughing. Thanks for the timely suggestion by library staff of the location! We bought two penguin dolls there.

Had lunch after the time they stop serving, but they were happy to feed us anyway.

Great place to go. It has a great varitey of books and magazines where there don't cost you anything like Wellington where you have to pay for your magazine Total regemend this library.

Very friendly staff, huge Pasifika and Maori resources. Dedicated free computers networked to Ancestry.com, for genealogical research. Outstanding library, light airy and warm with art gallery and cafe contiguous. Highly recommended

Nice library to be at,good range of books and good children's section. But I don't like it that they charge for internet use and quite a bit. Other libraries don't and this is a poorer area where for many this is where they can look things up, apply for jobs etc

I appreciate that they have a designated “quiet zone” study area. It makes it a lot easier to concentrate when studying and it’s something my local library doesn’t have. I also like that they allow you to eat in the study area unlike most libraries. Overall very good library in my opinion and will continue to be my go-to place to study.
