One of a kind experience in New Zealand. One of the few genuinely steam-operated ships still in service. The journey is breathtaking as it cruises down Lake Wakatipu towards Walter Peak Farm (in itself possessing incredible views). In addition the centre of the ship is open for viewing down to the engine with the spinning pistons and coal fire! I would definitely take a ride in the TSS Earnslaw before it goes out of service.

Fantastic experience across the Wakatipu with beautiful scenery along the way. The ship itself is very roomy with plenty of sitting and standing areas. There are outdoor areas in the front and on the lower deck if you prefer to catch the sea breeze. The ship is also in good condition considering it’s age and how often is used. Cafe/bar inside along with a dining area so you can enjoy your snacks comfortably. The cruise itself is smooth and at a decent pace. We took our 1.5 year old and stroller along with a few other parents and there was plenty of space. There is also an open area where you can see the coal shovelers feeding the furnace. Unbelievable to see how well that 100 year engine was running. Just like clockwork. The only downfall was the unused piano. We went on Easter Friday. A busy day with plenty of tourists. Would have been a perfect opportunity to showcase a pianist.

Great time on the boat. We did the dinner cruise. Amazing food and cool demo of the working dogs. Being able to see and walk into the engine room was an awesome touch. Must see for those who love old engines etc

Lovely experience. Lunch was incredible, boat was interesting and well maintained, awesome trip out on Lake, our weather was incredible, farm animals were awesome. We we dissappointed there was no shearing demo and we run out of time to see round farm properly, but over all, totally spectacular trip. We opted for lunch at the last minute cause they had a sale on- kids going for free. Full prices are definately for international tourists, but the experience is a 'once in a lifetime' one.
