Sandy Point, New Zealand

It's quite pretty and perfect for a family gathering on a nice day. Depending on the time if the year there could be a fire ban on, however, parking up with some mates, beers, and a decent blaze on a cool evening is a great experience. There are several walking tracks nearby that provide lookouts disposing panoramic view of the river and greenpoint area. They are well maintained and are not frequented by mosquitoes. The only criticisms I would have is that the uneven surface can make areas boggy, resonant after rain, so bring a 4WD, or have someone that could pull you out if you are going to park on the grass. The smell of the mudflats at low tide is slightly unpleasant, however you get used to it.

Nice scenery and many walks epic tracks some hidden areas too
A nice recreation area near the New River Estuary Daffoldil Bay is a short afternoon drive from Invercargill City.
Multiple good short walks start here so very handy start point.
Great place to walk the dog
Lovely scenic routes with beautiful forests to walk through. Good pathways but with loads of stairs (not suitable for prams or people who battle with stairs). Lots of sand flies and only one picnic table.
Nice spot busyish the beach was average but the tramp and picnic spot was pretty good
Beautiful
