I decided to try teach myself to knit a beanie over the weekend (we were taught at school many, many years ago, so I was extremely rusty). I found an easy pattern on the internet and really got stuck in and was loving it. I hit a problem when I didn't understand the pattern on how to decrease so thought I would stop off at Shore Wools in Browns Bay yesterday to ask for some help and advice. The lady working in the shop was totally disinterested and downright rude. She told me to go back to the shop I bought the wool from and get them to help! I was absolutely shocked at her attitude - no customer service at all!! I might be wrong, but a smile, being polite and helpful never hurt anyone and could actually brighten up your day, especially when you don't have customers in your shop. I might even have bought some wool to knit some more had the circumstances been different. I went over to Ikes Emporium to look at their wool and got chatting to a lovely lady who helped me and explained what I needed to do. I have since finished my little project and am very pleased with the result. I think I'll continue knitting but will certainly not recommend Shore Wools, Browns Bay to anyone after my experience yesterday.

Possibly the most helpful retailer I've come across in a long time. So, if you are looking for some advice like I was, go no further. Certainly best on the shore.
I was so excited to find a wool shop as they are few and far between. The shop is great the displays lovely. I havnt done any knitting for over 20 years so was getting inspiration for a blanket I want to make for a new baby. The color scheme was important to me and I was just getting an idea of what I wanted and went to take a couple of photos so I could go away and decide which colors. Wool is expensive so I wanted to think about it. I was planning to come back next week. The shopkeeper got angry with me for taking a picture and said people do this so they can steal ideas !!!!!! Huh!!!!! Shocked and dismayed. Tried to explain that I needed it to make my decision but she wouldn't budge. Terrible customer service. I will find another shop.
