Everything i was hoping my steak and cheese pie would be! Tasty, meat to gravy ratio perfect. The pastry held together and didnt flake all over the place. Plenty of cheese. Proper gravy, not jelly.. thanks Dads Pies :)

New Zealanders spend more than 110 million on meat pies each year, a good chunk of which are Dad's Pies. Eddie Grooten\u200b bought Dad's Pies in 1981 for 18,000 when it was a small beach-front shop in Red Beach with no brand or logo. In 2001 Dad's Pies moved to a Silverdale factory where up to 28,000 pies are baked an hour. The company has since become a major player in the industry producing 13 million pies a year. Part of its success is the result of a 32-year relationship with BP, now supplying more than 200 BP petrol stations throughout the country. It also supplies Air New Zealand, Jetstar, Virgin Australia, Progressive and Foodstuffs supermarkets and convenience stores. Grooten said Dad's Pies has experienced double digit growth since rebranding and winning a silver medal in the 2015 Bakels NZ Supreme Pie Awards mince and cheese commercial and wholesale category. It has also experienced unprecedented growth since it started exporting to Japan four years ago. "It's a bit like 10 years ago when Kiwis discovered Sushi," Grooten said Dad's Pies won silver in the commercial/wholesale category at this year's Bakels NZ Supreme Pie Awards. The awards attracted more than 5000 entries across 12 categories.

Ah, what a great pie! Sensibly priced, not greasy, all the usual recipes, nice and hot, service with a smile. Worth going out of your way for one of these, just go in the cafe and not their offices next door. Nice to have a touch of spice in the Thai chicken but not enough to give an awkward runny nose...Thanks guys...see you soon!
Dad's Pies? Amazing! There are too many pies on the market that are tasteless and have questionable fillings of unknown origin (and what's that wierd jelly stuff in there?) these pies hit the bin after one regretted bite. But I've NEVER had a bad pie from Dad's Pies. This is the only choice when a pie or sausage roll is needed! Peppered steak is the best. So good!

I've been buying dad's pies in Hamilton at the BP gas station for 3 weeks now and the day I first bought one for my partner and I after our long night out! McDonald's didn't cut it so we went off to BP to get a pie and hot drink.. We haven't stopped going to get DADS PIES since we first tried them.. I hope to travel to Silverdale one day and meet the bakers to congratulate them on the most Devine pies EVER!!!! Real tasty, lots of cheese and meat, and just filling to top it all off! I encourage you to keep making them delish pies please
