The location and teachers are lovely, however my experience has been one of feeling short changed. Right at the start, I should have known something was not right when we were required to allow the music academy to direct debit all fees from our bank, this should have a red flag to start with. However, I did as I was told. Anyone wanting to join this class needs to know that if the class has less than 4 children (which is often the case) then it becomes a 30 minute lesson instead of a 45 minute one. I find this hard to grasp since I paid for a 45 minute lesson. Also, it is under terms and conditions that every student needs to buy a new song book at 50 even if they already have the book from an older sibling. In other words the money gets taken out from your bank and you are given a new book even if you don't want it. If you think you're going to pay 13 per lesson when your child is 3 years old, be prepared to pay 19 per lesson when your child turns 4. The class format and time remains exactly the same but more money gets withdrawn from your bank. Then right at the end when parents email in to cancel their membership, it has been a trend for the school to "miss" the cancellation request and money gets withdrawn from the bank anyway. It is then clearly explained under T&C's that they do not do refunds. However, if you push for one you will be offered a refund minus 50.

I have been taking my granddaughters to Christchurch Music Academy since they were 2 years old (they are now aged 5 and 7). Attending their music class is a highlight in their week as not only do they enjoy interacting with the teacher and other students but they love the sense of accomplishment as they learn new things. They have gained excellent music skills in reading music, playing the piano, music theory and singing. They have developed a true love of music thanks to Katie and the other teachers they have had through the years. In the 5 years I have interacted with them they have always been extremely professional and have had the best interests of the children foremost in their approach.

If you want to attend a professionally run school, that ACTUALLY teaches your child music, then this is the pick. Great Staff, and a wonderful curriculum. Pricing is the same or similar to other schools of this type, and we have had absolutely no problem with communication in regards to re-enroling one of our children, and withdrawing another due to personal reasons. FYI - I read the other 3, 1 star reviews, and don't understand what their issues are, our family has had nothing but the best from CMA.

Our children attended this music school after having been at another one. The difference is chalk and cheese. CMA is professional with an absolutely fantastic curriculum 5 stars is not enough to rate our families experience here.

I can also say the good comments are fake comments, but I just would not do that as I am not sure, I just review based on my experience and true feeling. Thanks for the haters. ;-) I would not give a star if there were an option for zero. First of all, I cancelled the course and email them in advanced, but they still deducted money from my account which made me feel unsafe, but that's ok, I contacted them but no reply, then she said will issue a refund, and then another month past I still didn't got my refund so I asked again, and of course finally I got it back. But just need to be patient to wait for your own money. We have emails as evidence. And this happened to some of my friends as well. Second, teacher taught about "Music castle" in class which I can understand, but does it worth 15mins to draw? I almost thought it's a drawing class! For me I think it's a waste of time, a class is just 45mins after all, let along teacher sometimes got late. third, the teacher in our class was a bit harsh to the children, sticker is everything, my kid liked the course in the beginning, then after few weeks cried saying don't wanna go again, that is the first and the only time happened to us. children enjoy the class is the most important. at last I would recommend going to some other music group just take gold coin donation would be a better choice. We attended to different music group and classes and unfortunately it is the worst we experience.
