Short walk. Very steep. Still good.

Not place where the community wishes you to park since it would be in front of their homes. An off street parking area just below this was designated as proper place. They are two other areas you can drop off others further up the road.

There are actually two entrances to the trail that goes up to the Mount Paku Lookout, and this was probably built as an alternate to the original one. It's a series of stairs that leads up from Paku Drive to the trail. The other (probably original) entrance is on a small street off Paku Drive called Tirinui Crescent. The problem here is that the people who live on Tirinui Crescent have made it a no parking zone; so you are only allowed to stop to drop off passengers at the trail entrance. So assuming everyone in the car is doing the hike, it makes more sense to find parking on Paku Drive and use the entrance there. Update: I see someone has taken issue with our mapping this clearly-marked entrance to the trail and would prefer people to park in a very inconveniently located parking area and walk all the way up a hill, on a narrow street with no sidewalks, to the entrance. It's annoying enough that the people on Tirinui Crescent managed to make that a no-parking zone (and I suspect it wasn't done legally) and now the houses on Paku Drive also want no public parking. But the fact is parking on that street is legal and this trail is meant for the public. Those who don't like it should move someplace more private.
