I decided at the last minute to visit this park and I'm so pleased that I did. A well maintained steep drive way (affording great views on the way out) to the car park. Toilet facilities available. Stunning views and information board. I didn't have time to do any walks but I will go back, if only to the car park for the views!

Beautiful scenery, great easy walks through fields and a forrest. A bit of uphill walking involved. Very few visitors, therefore you will the whole reserve for yourself to enjoy. Make sure to visit the water reservoir.

Just left a festival Sunday was very shocked to see that speed limits were not reduced for this event and this explains why some people thought they could go at the speed they were traveling even though the festival. Many people aren't experienced driving on gravel and leaving a 5 day festival is an event in its self for many. I only saw 1 car coming in as I was leaving but it was going more than 30im. Still thanking the Gods that I was in the right/time to stop a 3-4 year old running to towards a horse being led through the festival. This child had no idea she would have ran into the path of the 2nd nervous and getting more so horse. Fortunately we both got to watch the 3rd very small pony from the side of the road. I really felt for those people with the horses and I bet they are grateful to have gotten through. Horses were getting really stressed and they would have still had a lot of festival to go through. 1 friend who knew the land told me for the riders it was a one-way track that there is a way for a round the festival. A sign would have helped these riders go around the festival or the whole track closed for the festival as it was very dangerous. I heard of 2 car accidents which most likely would have been avoided by covering the many signs and putting festival speed signs up

Love this place. Fantastic views and several good walks. Clean toilet facilities and parking. Lots of lovely birds and other wildlife. Sheep and lambs roaming about too.

A hidden gem on the edge of Auckland the trails are secluded and quiet but great quality and a rare place in New Zealand to find a reserve with managed exotic forest as well as native. A great example of sustainable land use!
