Kia ora, the huts and camps throughout the park are excellent. We stayed in a tent but took a good look around the hut and the area. We commenced our Great Walk at Wainui, this was our first night. Flushing toilets, good sheltered campsites, hut has rooms. Just beside the beach. Took a walk to the lookout around the bay, saw some seals and the lighthouse. It's a bit of a short steep rocky climb down so don't take your pack.
Unique place to stay in the park. Be careful with the wood stove, will work only with really dry wood. Enjoy!
Great hut but people need to clean after themselves
Great hut with cold shower, beach nearby and comfy bunks. Big communal area plenty of dining space. Theres one room with 2 beds, a room with like 6 beds, a room with 4 and a room with like 8 beds.
Great hut in the north of the National Park with great facilities (including cold showers), filtered water and access to a nice beach.
Remote, peaceful and comfortable. Pure bliss
Best hut I've ever stayed in. Big fire, 20 or so bunks and good amount of reading about the hut which tells lots about the history of the area and building. Stayed in July, so it was cold in the morning. Fire takes about an hour to heat up the place. Stairs are thin so care is needed when walking up and down them. I think three rooms total. Definitely two rooms upstairs, and saw one room downstairs. One big table with a few long seats. No lighting, so make sure you have lots of torches. Drinking water outside, and toilets are outside through some bush. About 20 meters from the hut. Little wood cutting area too. Lots of weka around. They like to run through the hut and steal your food, so keep the doors closed ;)
