This has been the most appalling experience with a mechanic in my life. Didn't pass my WoF inspection so went to Alan to see if he could help out with some rust repairs. Asked for a quote but he didn't want to give me one without getting started. He proceeded to pressure me into making a decision. Got a second opinion and decided to go with this, much cheaper, option. (600 Vs. Approx 1400). This was apperently not a certified, which we don't know at the time. After repairs was done the WoF centre wanted an official panel beaters report, and as luck would have it, Alan was the only one in town who the centre did business with. Went back to Alan, who didn't want to do the inspection. It appeared that it had become a personal matter to him. Only when offering to do some additional repairs he quoted us 550 and kept the van overnight (after much groveling, which he clearly enjoyed). The next morning he called and left a voicemail that we could pick up the van as he decided that he wasn't going to do the work. No explanation given. Went there and he said he couldn't sign of anybody else's work...? Luckily we managed to do the necessary repairs elsewhere for 100 and found a way to pass the WoF without his approval. An experience I will not soon forget. This is the first negative review I have ever written, but I feel compelled to warn others before going here. His secretary was lovely though.
