Highly recommend this tranquil place. Lovely quiet bush surrounds the accommodation — a large wooden house with open plan shared kitchen, lounge & bathrooms. James & Tammi were the perfect, friendly hosts who went above & beyond. Wouldn’t hesitate to go there again!!

Tammy and James were great hosts, they really looked after us, especially as we had no transport. The accommodation was really lovely and clean and in a beautiful setting. Great value for money xxx
Please go there! I was made redundant and decided to go on a mini road trip. I spent 2 nights in Nelson to see a friend then thought I would spend an extra night going back via Westcoast. Found this place to stay.... So glad I did! I got there and because they were not fully booked (winter) I was upgraded. Just a delightful 6 min walk from the Retreat takes you joining the Truman Track to capture an amazing Sunset. Be aware though it rains a lot so it is a hit or miss adventure. The owners are quite familiar with all the surroundings and have not owned it all that long. It was nice to see them at the Beach to watch the sun set with me. The log fire was nicely stoked and the ambience free from technology. I just wish I had 2 nights here instead of Nelson..
Beautiful peaceful spot with very helpful owners and a great variety of accommodation options available. Extremely good value for money.
James and Tami are awesome hosts and keep the place looking very beautiful. Stunning location, lots to do in the local area!

Great location to stay at. We were in the lavender room in the Rata lodge, the room had plenty of room and was very clean. The shared kitchen was well equipped and fairly big. The staff were very nice, and recommended us to walk down to the beach for the sunset, great advice! Definitely get down there if you can on your trip! Only a 10min walk from the lodge.
