The garden/sculpture part of the park is terrific. Wouldn’t venture out if you have bad knees (lots of steps and loose gravel) but otherwise fun —great views and plenty to look at. The bush walk on the other hand is not fun; definitely no walk in the park. Steep trek, not many views (vegetation over grown) and really technical due to roots and slippery clay-like track. Would only attempt if you were looking for a calf-burner workout. Ample parking and spots to picnic, park has water fountains and toilets too.

Well worth visiting, wear good walking shoes & be prepared to walk around several hours to appreciate the variety of plants sculptures & views

Beautiful gardens with little streams throughout. Great place to take the kids and let them run around. Nice covered picnic areas throughout the park. Views are beautiful and the butterfly garden has so many caterpillars and cacoons the kids loved it. We spent 4 hours observing the wildlife, plants, and rocks. It was interesting to see the old mining equipment and landscape of old miners. The staff were polite and friendly highly recommended for the family and especially if you love nature.

Very good place to explore on your own or with friends and family. Some good tracks here as well as flowers to see. A gold coin donation is the asking price. There is plenty of parking and public toilets as well. It's well worth the visit and so close to the main road with excellent views of the bay once you climb the hill.

A lovely walk in lush gardens. Lots of sculptural features not all to my taste. Recommended for getting out and the views over the Bay.

A fantastic walk though Gardens and sculptures. Tracks are in good condition, generally gravel or dirt with reasonable inclines in some places. You have the choice of wide vehicle tracks or narrower bush tracks. Lots of Tui and other bird life.
