Sawmill Brewery is my favourite place around Matakana and Leigh for food and a drink. The menu offers a diverse range of delicious options from entrees to mains to desert. Full line up of all the well known Sawmill beers, wine, cocktails etc. Attentive and helpful staff. One of the best things is how quickly the food comes out of the kitchen. Very impressive considering the place is normally full.

Good beer. Bad food. Really disappointed about kitchen and a range of dishes. No beef, no chicken, no lamb. Terrible pork and ugly fish. Small portions especially comparing the prices around. Beer range is great but I was hungry and went back home still hungry with couple boxes of beer.
The beer selection is top notch. The staff are very informed and able to assist you with your beer choices, to make it a truly enjoyable experience. The place has a rustic charm, and a lovely outside area with great views. It's the perfect place to kick back with some friends for the afternoon. Although they have a nice enough menu, I was very disappointed about the portion size (especially considering the cost), and lack of food that go with beer, e.g. burgers, steak, pizza, nachos, etc.
I won’t have given a single star - if that was an option! EXTREMELY RUDE staff. We were outside the whole time until it started raining and had to move in to the patio. Straight away the lady came up and started yelling on top of her voice so much that the whole setting outside could hear her! Apparently she had problem with boys listening to their game on their phone!! And it had been literally 3min that they came in.. and they were about to go out anyway which she knew... Sad bit is we have been visiting many years - every summer! Sure to never go back! Spent like 200 plus and were listening to the staff telling other customers that she was trying to avoid us ! Honestly left feeling we were discriminated for our race!! Super annoying to have felt that. To make fun of us to other table right across us reflected the service and moto the company stands by! Just like previous comments- will never go back!
Great location up in Matakana, really well laid out, and worth the drive up from Aucks. Great beer menu, equally amazing food - and the wait staff really bent over backwards to help us, with our kids. Definitely going back there again soon!
Beautiful setting, busy but not madness like Puhoi Pub, plenty of parking, awesome service, reasonable prices and good beer. If definitely go there again.
Saturday 8 Feb 2021.My wife and l and 19 other family members celebrated our 50th Wedding anniversary lunch.Beautiful setting,welcoming staff great service,food exceptional and just kept coming.Beer tasting was superb as well as alternatives for non beer drinkers.Our second time there and our guests were impressed.Recommend to all to experience it.Andy
Beer was nice but the food portions very tiny for the price. Our bowl of pork scratchings came with a ladybug crawling on them, and tasted a bit stale or reheated. Would be nice if more meat option were on menu. Some pizzas and burgers or steak would be ideal.
