Really well layed out village. Step back in time ️ Spent a lovely few hours here. The cafe/restaurant is great too.

Great day out. The old buildings are incredible and many of them still house active businesses using the old techniques. The kids loved the old fire engines, buses and the aeroplane that you can go inside. Some weekends they run the train and some the railcar. You do pay extra for a ride but it’s a pretty decent train ride. Loads of history in the place, the cafe is decent and has nice food, coffee and beer. Well worth a visit. Nice and friendly for children

A wonderful place to spend an afternoon. Beautifully maintained and detailed. Take a picnic, lots of places to sit and eat, alternatively there is a Cafe, we only got drinks there.

We are locals and myself and grandsons (5,7 ) visited knowing the engines weren't running but just to peek through the workshop windows satisfied them...the old steamy ahhh .... walking on the tracks a hit. Then off to discover the marine buildings for the first time . Boys enjoyed the model displays especially the model of the Titanic...and sailboats and the ships in bottles ....went home and made lego replicas. Both enjoyed the buses and old machinery...

We liked this place because we had excellent service, assistants were very helpful. Also told about jazz band that would be playing later in afternoon. Clean & tidy cafe, we rate it no 1

Good venue for a wedding on the lawn beside the chapel. And The Granary is good for hosting 100 people for dinners, etc.

We went on a wet day mid week so it was a very quiet place. Some interesting exhibits were not working such as the model train and railway trips. The cafe was open and had a good choice of food plus beer on tap. Like MOTAT in Auckland these places seem to be weekend visit choices. Probably more happening then.
