Great area to have been set aside with a lot of potential for further development. Nice and cool on a hot day with the breeze coming off the lake and up the hill. Great excuse for a bike ride and a must-stop for a relaxing and quiet picnic.

Taupo Botanical place is very nice. Here they have multiple collections of plants. Every site they got car parking. There are lots of walking way in side the reserve. Wheelchairs and kids strollers accessibility very nice. Love this place very Much. Every plant got there number tag so you can find way to come out from inside without any guides, if you lost some where.

Awesome any time of year. Multiple points of access. Clean welcoming toilets at the lower entrance off Shephard Road. The extensive set of tracks weave throughout the acres of foliage - trees, flowers, shrubs and much more. Discovering a few new or different species each time you visit. Fascinating "micro-gardens" in the most unexpected locations. Many labelled and identifiable plants throughout the Reserve. Stone art can be experienced (if you're into that sort of adventure). Many well formed, not flat tracks allow for easy walking - but some tracks (that you can avoid) are pretty rough and or narrow. Mostly not good for wheelchair or pushchair visits.

Sorry i don't know why i had a 1 star rating. Changed it to 5 because this botanical reserve really is an amazing experience to walk or even drive around. Highly recommend for your next walk.

Absolutely stunning gardens. Beautiful views of lake Taupo. Lots of different pathways meandering through gorgeous native bush.

A must see and visit when in Taupo or even passing by, easy access from the bypass road and anywhere within Taupo. Very beautiful Botanical gardens and native, struck at it's best as the Rhododendrons and Azaleas were in their majestic bloom. The Camellias were just finishing flowering. The Native bush, trees and ferns and pongas behind these flowering plants-trees are also very well established and majestic, great place for the peace and quiet in beautiful settings, great for walks and exercise runs etc. At the top there are amazingly beautiful views out over the lake with the central mountains in all their glory on a clear day, plus generally views in about a 270 degree angle.

Not flower season it seems. A bush drive. Very nice, but I wouldn't want to be up there alone.

More of a forest than a garden. Lots of birds in the trees. Pretty nice overall, one paved path with smaller trails off the side. Parking has easy access.
