Another hidden gem. Perfect for walking dogs. Easy access, easy walk. Boardwalk over swampland, great natural historic Wairarapa Plains walk. Very impressed.

Natural, unspoiled native reserve. Boardwalk needs some upkeep to prevent grasses from becoming a tripping hazard, but otherwise a restful spot to visit.

Carter Scenic Reserve is a DOC managed 5th generation scrubby Bush and one of the few remaining remnants of patchwork landscape once typical of the Wairarapa - grass, wetland, shrubland, and forest. Its key fame is a few Kahikatea tree's not logged out in the early 1890s to 1920 period. The park is well worth visiting with a good car park and easy walking track. Great for kids

Lovely place for a brief walk. Interesting place to take pics of trees. There are quite a few wasps around during autumn but they’re no problem.

I feel it needs a bit of work done. Somewhat overgrown and signage not great. Pot holes on road to get there really bad.
