Stunning views from here. Open to public at times but owned by "trustpower" and maybe other corporations. Same with the nearby "Argyle pond/lake" very spectacular views throughout the wairau valley. Though the campsite was closed off to the public "self contained only camping" signs were still present meaning you could still camp there but have no access to any of the facilities. the pond is great for kayaks and boats but not for swimming, there are no swimming signs present. if you want to Freedom camp and you are heading in this direction I would recommend camping at rarangi beach on the east coast and watching the sunrise. there is a 24 hour toilet and freedom camping seems to be permissable there also. Definitely worth checking out these power stations though!
