Kiwi Paka was a great place to stay. First experience at a backpacker place, but we got an ensuite so it wasn't the true backpacker experience I guess. My wife and I really loved the feel of the place and enjoyed the views (second story room.) The staff seemed friendly whenever we talked to them. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms and when I went to the community room when the reception room was closed before hours, the Wi-Fi would not connect at all. Once the operating hours started the Wi-Fi was working fine. I dont know if that was a one time issue or if that's normal. Other than that, great stay in a nice clean place.

Price is nice and just right next to the cave. There is also a bar next to it.
Cheap, very close with Glow Worm, clean, easy to find, excellent. I just live here one night, and visit Glow Worm on tomorrow morning, and drove back Auckland.
Nice clean place that super close to lots of cave adventures and eateries. TV didn't work, but I want really there to watch television.
My husband and I stayed in a private room while visiting Waitomo. The room was spacious, had a mini fridge, and the shared kitchen facilities were clean. However, this was the least comfortable bed I can ever remember sleeping on (you could feel every coil...) and the toilet made an awful shrieking noise.
Stayed here with Kiwi experience and it was nice, rooms were clean with big comfy beds! Kitchen a decent size and WiFi ok but didn’t reach the room. Male showers/toilets a bit run down and not enough to go around!
