Great place to go
like
Remember this place from when I was younger and was excited to go. Was a little disappointed that the old cement works have been blocked off so you can no longer explore. And majority of the land is private property now and the people who live there a less than inviting or even friendly
It was raining so take that in mind when you read this. The marina was uninviting and those working there less than friendly. The old cement works looked interesting but no information on site to tell you about them. Overall a nice walk but a bleak day to be there.
Great old ruins of cement works. Quiet and peacful. Good for a picnic by the pond
Fantastic place to pull your boat out from the office to the yard staff very helpful pleasant place to be I highly recommend
The best vibe of any boat yard I’ve ever seen. I messed up on a big job there, nearly losing my arm, and the staff took care of the boat’s owner in helping him get back on track and floating. At the end of a hard day’s work, motoring up the river in the dinghy for dinner and a beer in Warkworth, taking regular swimming breaks at the lake, grass underfoot in the hardstand and an area steeped in maritime history all make this the best place to haul out and work on your average family boat. I recommend Mahurangi highly. P.S: for the sake of what’s left of my reputation, and in response to Mahurangi’s question, I won’t say who I am here. The boat was named Compass Rose and she’s a 47’ SS, built in steel and coloured red. It was an extensive re-plating job, made necessary by massive corrosion.
Wat a great place to haul out if you have proper work to do ie paint top sides ,price was rite and the staff ,ash and Rosco always available for advice or a chat, after hours was great catching up on the days work over a beer, thanks guys good job
