This was my first time ever to hire a car here in NZ, and it was a very good experience with Apex. The booking was so easy, not expensive, and everything is clear (no hidden charges). The website shows you everything you need to know. I've got the 2.4l Rav4 for 3 days to attend a workshop in Matamata (the hobbiton), and the car was clean, smooth and swift (we didn't face any issues with the vehicle). Returning the car was even easier and everything done in less than a minute. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and great range of cars.

Easy to book and pay online with sharp prices and an excellent selection of modern cars in good order. From pickup to returning the rental car 7 days later they were easy to deal with. We drove 2200km with no problems and would book a car again for future travel.
Gavin (?) is a lord of efficiency and chill vibes. It was raining and I wore a sweater that was too itchy, so I was already stressed when I arrived. Anyway, the dude with the big beards made everything happen so easily. It wasn’t even a problem to add my girlfriend to rental. Someone did rear end the car while it was parked but that’s another story for another time....
I've been using Apex all over NZ for years now. Hassle free, easy to rent, great service, and never any problems with any of the vehicles - super reliable. They've even disconnected the Newby go slow chip off the low end cars now too! I only say that as previously I'd had some under powered smaller cars which struggled up some of the hills! I understand why, the last thing they want is newby tourists, or joy riders speeding around I guess. Opt for a new shape Carolla, sedan or hatch, and you cant go wrong. Far better value, good space, drive really nicely with fast responsive power for getting out of trouble and hauling up the heights. Reasonable litres per 100km when you fill up with 91 as well. No drama when handing back, as long as you've looked after the rental. Friendly staff and consistent service at all the stations I've visited.
got a variety of cars and easy accessible. cheap rentals. got more options. they got a new cars as well as some good old ones that are great. So no worries.
Friendly staff. Convenient location. The only negative is the low wall that divides the forecourt from the footpath. Who wants to humiliate themselves by scraping the side of the car when driving off? In case you wonder though, I made a safe exit. And the car was brilliant to drive! Returning it was a simple process too.
Great car, and super smooth & easy pick up and drop off. Paula in particular was really sweet and helpful, and the other staff around were also fantastic. Would definitely rent from Apex again!
