Food and meat are delicious! It's a real Argentine BBQ, WOOD-FIRED style! Generous portion, great value for the money. Good selection of wines. The entire staff were nice and friendly. I would definitely come here again. Thanks, guys to bring me back to Argentina for a while, you made my night

After a few days travelling around the north island and not eating well we were after a descent blood meal and EL Matador did not dissapoint. It captures the true Argentinian spirit. The service was great to match the food.

Great food and great service. Even special touches as was my Birthday and our Anniversary. Lovely surroundings and ambiance. We had tapas starting with rack of lamb delicious. Vegetarian dish two different types beetroot feta cheese and greens, equally delicious Lovely spicy Prawns we so enjoyed those as well. We ordered some lovely bread to mop up scrumming sauce. Next we had rack of beef, was beautifully cooked. Finishing or so we thought with delicious chocolate dessert. When this came the ice cream had a lit candle in it. The lovely waitress sang Happy Birthday to me and I blew out the candle. We shared this dessert as both of us we’re feeling quite full. The same waitress came and advised us that the manager would like to give us a complimentary lemon cello to celebrate our Anniversary. Wow they certainly know how to look after their customers. Throughly recommend El Matador and we will be returning there again. Great value for money.

Absolutely beautiful menu, staff and atmosphere. Only been twoce now and easily my favourite place to eat in the whole city. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Service was fine and the wine list was plentiful. Food was a little forgettable. Wouldn’t say it was bad but it wasn’t anything special. If you were going to an Argentinian restaurant you’d expect the steak to be stand out. But it wasn’t.

Amazing meal. I don’t even know where to start... I hesitated about going, thinking that was only a barbecue place, but they have much more variety: paella, sea food and others. The steak was very tasty and perfectly cooked, according to people who ordered it best steak in Wellington. I on the other side, ordered baby octopus and a salad (both of them sides/ they were huge) all food was perfect seasoned and very tasty. The prices were very worth it for how good and generous the plates were. Coming back soon!!

We really loved it there. Loved the vibe, cool place. Massive amount of food couldn't believe our eyes. A few wines later, great night and certainly recommend. We are from Hamilton but see you again.
