The society has three main goals: To foster safety best practice throughout the engineering profession, and to help engineers share expertise and experience in safety-critical functions. To represent the engineering profession with bodies such as WorkSafe New Zealand and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, to give the profession a voice in the development of regulations and practice guidance which affect engineers. To provide a contact point for regulators and policy developers when technical expertise is needed to support their work.
