Wellington isn’t known for its tropical weather (although there was that one summer of 2015), so you have to find other ways to warm yourself, and Tory Urban Retreat is my escape. This Finnish sauna feels like walking into an oasis, with its lush greenery, blue plunge pool and Roman frieze on the wall. I go to the women's’-only night on Tuesday and it’s just the most wonderful vibe. Wonderful relaxation massage by Pascaline! I was in Wellington for a business trip and the spa was a wonderful detour before my meetings the next day. Really helped with my sore shoulders and completely took away my headache. Highly recommend!

One star for the staff that is friendly and helpful. I used the open sauna and was not very impressed. The ladies changing room is partly storage area and has (yuck) carpet on the floor. The other clients were not hyginic (coughing in sauna, blowing nose in hands to then wipe on towel and shaving with the use of one of the offered drinking cups?!). What made me leave withing 30 minutes was that all lounges were wet and of a fabric that can not be dried,.. again yuck. Will not visit again :(

I have just had the most amazing massage at Urban Retreat by the lovely Suz. I like a strong firm massage that counts and this massage certainly sorted out all my knots and aches. Thank you Suz, I will definitely be back 5 stars for you
