Excellent tour of the set props made by Weta Workshop. We also went for the sculpting beginners lesson, this was very weldone and our guide was quite knowledgeable. Will recommend!! Just a note for people arriving early for the first session of the day: there are no signs on the outside, just have to wait for the guide to arrive.

Well recommended tour. I was sceptical as I’m not the biggest LOTR’s fan but the tour is amazing with fun guides and contains lots of interesting content over a large variety of projects. Amazing skills from the artists involved.

You only get to see a few props and not a range of figures that they build over the years for each film. I went to attend this a year ago where they pointed out a list of films they made by pointing at the wall framed with all the "film posters". It's a relatively small tour not worth the money really. I rather go somewhere else instead. Lucky my partner didn't come or she'll be disappointed also.

Awesome tour if you're into seeing the tech behind some incredible films.

For what you get it is both expensive and rather disappointing. You move from exhibition space to exhibition space and most definitely don’t see ‘working areas’. Lots of props rather randomly plonked on walls and shelves, a couple of films that talk up the bosses (I kept wondering which ones were responsible for the ‘toxic’ work environment that’s been recently reported) and a wildly expensive gift shop. Have been to many more far more interestingly-staged film exhibits. Guides tried hard to make the most of what they were given to work with, but struggled. Stick to the Gallipoli exhibit at Te Papa; it’s free, staged sensitively and shows off the skills of the Weta workforce far more effectively.

A chance to see and hear about the Weta Workshop Group. Very friendly and most interesting. You need to visit while in Wellington.

Remarkable world class studio. I spent most of the day there doing the 2 tours and workshop activity. The tours alone are worth it.
