Gorgeous old building, very helpful and friendly hosts, comfortable room in the old nurses quarters. Close to river, breakfast cafe, 20 min walk to town and Waimarie paddle steamer. Lots to see and do in Whangerei. Great spot.

I stayed in the B&B. I couldn’t fault the place. The service was great. Quick communication when booking. The whole place was clean. Great quality bed, sheets and pillows. Exceptional linen and nothing was a bother for the owners, even though they were full.

Stayed in hostel. Washroom uses are limited, it was always busy and it is also outside - for 75 a night I prefer to keep warm. I believe there are about 4 cabins, and 2 dorm rooms, and only 2 (1 toilet in each/1 shower in each) washrooms. Room vibe was so dark - no where to put clothes either. Bed - very unconformable for a couple, kept falling inwards all night. Had the unpleasant circumstances of staying when it was packed: - kitchen was always in use - kettle looks gross on the inside - woken up at 7am by loud guests. I’ve stayed all over NZ and for 50-80 you can find some gems . Bad service - felt like they prefer to fill rooms rather than provide a warm stay. Stay somewhere else .
Friendly staff, comfortable mattress, clean environment and the treat is they have a Yamaha classical guitar in very good condition as well. Nothing to be picky. Sincerely recommended.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Charming building with character. The owners have clearly been putting in a huge effort to fix up the place and maintain nice gardens and excellent cleanliness. Very reasonably priced too.
