Wanganui has so many little gems of a place to visit. This glass works is one of them. They have a balcony viewing platform that you can sit and watch the artist at work. Loved the amazing glass art on display. You can even take lessons here!

New Zealand Glassworks is well worth a visit when in Whanganui. The gallery features beautiful glass sculptures for sale and overlooks an impressive kiln. The hands-on workshops look like lots of fun and book out well in advance. Friendly and helpful staff.

I had never been to a glass shop. The work they do is astounding. Such beautiful shapes and colours. Introductory workshops are run every month where, for 270, participants get to learn the basics about glass work and make some very cool stuff. Bookings are essential.

Always worth a look. The kiln isn't always in operation but treat it as a bonus if it is. Some stunning pieces which show the art and skill of the glass artists.
