Positives: 1. They were able to accommodate us despite a busy night. 2. Food was good. Negatives: 1. Had to wait for over an hour to receive our dinner. Would have been good for them to let us know before hand. We went with our kids and the wait time definitely wasn’t very good! 2. What was asked to be mild (for kids) was made medium and what was asked to be made medium was mild. Of course, after waiting for so long, we couldn’t be bothered sending anything back. Instead just made kids eat what they did not want to. They were happy as we told them they could have dessert in return!

We went there for the final night of our stay in Whanganui with our daughter's family. The atmosphere was great and the staff were welcoming and helpful. A huge. menu from starters to the desserts. We all unanimously agreed that the honey Coast duck was the answer, so all ordered it. I reckon that the chef was on form. All of the meals were cooked and presented the same. They came out still sizzling. The duck was superb with the meat tender and delicious and the skin was crackly. The meat nestled on a huge pile of excellently cooked fresh vegetables. Everything was amazing, but the honey sauce just outdid it all!. The roti, the moneybags, and the prawn twists were lovely, but all were outclassed by the sauces. That, to me, is the key to great food. The service was quick and friendly. We didn't have a lot of room left for dessert but managed to attack a sundae. Lovely again with a yummy chocolate sauce. Thanks guys, you made our final night in Whanganui a night to remember! We will be back.

We were looking forward to trying Thai Villa because of the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Also unfortunately, we had takeaways so couldn't send food back. On the good side, the food was on time and the staff were polite. On the rough side, the money bags were relatively tasteless, the roti overdone, the Pad Thai and red curry meat was dry (although the flavour was nice), the roast duck was average, and the beef salad was so chunky that the vegetables, especially the onions, overpowered the rest of the salad.

Thai Villa was recommended to us and we were so happy. The food is delicious and there is an extensive menu choice. I eat gluten free and was delighted with my meal.
